Explanation:
- The ovum is released by the overy.
- then it travels down the fallopian tube or the oviduct.
- In the oviduct, if the ovum is fertilised be the sperm the it would result to the formation of a new young one
- whereas if the ovum is not fertilised then it would also travel down the oviduct and reach the uterus
- Now here the uterus has few linings of blood which are shown with the green colour in the diagram.
- These linings are very rich in blood vessels as it is the one which would have provided the nutrition to the embryo but as the embryo formation didn't take place
- thus this lining would be shed off and this falls in the form of blood from the female vagina. This is termed as Menstruation.
- this lining is freshly made by the body after every month so that if fertilisation takes place then the developing young one should get better blood.
