This sentence is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. It's not that you don't learn from success. But that learning gives you a short term happiness. You enjoy your success. You feel that your hard work has paid you and then after sometime you forget it.But failure gives you that tight slap on your face which you can't forget until you cure it with sucess.
Failure has two sides attached to it and what you learn depends on which side you choose. One side represents motivation and the other one is give up. When you fail at something, you start analysing what went wrong, which mistakes cost you this failure. And then you give efforts to rectify them and what do you get? Success, obviously. On the contrary when you succeed, you feel happy and proud of yourself. You start celebrating. You preach about your ‘methods of success' to people. It's not that suceees doesn't teach you anything but it's just that failure teaches you more, gives you a hunger for success. Dr KALAM rightly said ‘ Don't read success stories, you'll get only message. Read failure stories, you'll get inspiration.’ When you fall down, you get up and run with double the enthusiasm.

Failure is a better teacher than success as early success can easily get into the head and cause arrogance, whereas failure leads one to become humble, compassionate, and understanding.
