This phrase is a shortened form of what Jesus said in the Bible in the book of Matthew 17:20,21. What Jesus said is “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you, but this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” This was said in the context of healing, wherein the disciples of Jesus were performing many healings but were unable to cast a demon out of a boy. So they brought the boy to Jesus and after Jesus cast the demon out, they ask Jesus why it was that they could not do what Jesus did. It is in reponse to this question that Jesus says that if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains.
