Let the present age of Farheen be x
and sadaf be y

• Farheen is twice as old as sadaf

x = 2y ...... ( i )

• Five years ago their age will be :-

Farheen age :- ( x - 5 )
Sadaf age :- ( y - 5 )

Farheen was three times of sadaf's age !!

( x - 5 ) = 3 ( y - 5 )

x - 5 = 3y - 15

x - 3y = - 15 + 5

x - 3y = ( - 10 ) .... ( ii )

Putting value of x from ( i ) in ( ii )

x - 3y = ( - 10 )

2y - 3y = ( - 10 ).

- y = - 10

y = 10


Putting value of y as 10 in ( i )

x = 2y

x = 20


So, the present age of Farheen is ( x ) :- 20 years and Sadaf is ( y ) :- 10 years!!
