Farmers in a particular region were concerned that
pre-mature yellowing of leaves of a pulse crop
might cause decrease in the yield. Which
treatment could be most beneficial to obtain
maximum seed yield ?
(a) Removal of all yellow leaves and spraying
the remaining green leaves with 2,4,5-
trichlorophenoxy acetic acid.
(b) Application of iron and magnesium to
promote synthesis of chlorophyll
(c) Frequent irrigation of the crop
(d) Treatment of the plants with cytokinins
alongwith a small dose of nitrogenous
fertilizer.

Treatment for premature of yellowing leaves of a pulse crop is:

b) Application of Iron and Magnesium to promote the synthesis of chlorophyll.

• Because of Iron and Magnesium plays an important role in the Photosynthesis process.

• Iron is the essential micronutrient and Magnesium is a good mineral to fulfill the biological activities in the plant.

• Iron maintains the chloroplast structure and its function and it will stimulate the crop yield.

• Magnesium is a central element in chloroplast it maintains the green color of the leaves.

• If the plant doesn't have a sufficient amount of Mg, the plant couldn't produce a green color so leaves change into yellow color.

• Mg and Iron both maintain the chloroplast structure and fulfill the photosynthesis process and increase the pulse crop yield.
