Green Revolution is associated with the loss of soil fertility because of continuous use of ground water for tube well irrigation. This inturn reduced the water table below the ground. And also, chemical fertilizers may destroy the bacteria and other micro organisms present in the soil. The highest consumption of chemical fertilizers in India is Punjab. Thus, modern farming methods have over utilised the natural resources base.
