these are leguminous plants they have root nodules where the symbiotic nitrogen fixing bacteria lives thus helps to convert atmospheric nitrogen into soluble nitrites and nitrates removing the nitrogen deficit of soil

hey mate

here is the answer

farmers prepare to grow peas and beans in nitrogen diffiicient soil because

the plants like peas and beans are leguminous plants and so the fertility of soil increases because of Sowing of this type of crops ..

Actually a bacteria named rhizobium live on the roots of pea or beans plants ..

most plants takes up nitrogen as nitrates which is present in soil.. but not enough nitrates are found in soil..

these bacteria is able to carry out a reaction called nitrogen fixation.. this converts nitrogen from air to nitrates..

these bacteria gives the plants nitrates and in return plant give sugar for their energy so that they can continue the reaction..

so , because of this bacteria the amount of nitrates increases in the soil..

hope it may help you
