All gases are made of atoms.

As we know, The atoms contain electron and proton where proton is positively charged and electron is negatively charged.

In a neutral gas ,,,,,

the Number if protons &electrons are same. so total charge in gas is zero.

But if we somehow change the Number of proton or electron , we can give charge to the gas.

/////////////////////////

We can do it by adding or removing proton or electron , so that the Number of proton≠Number of electron in atom.

By this way , we can Ionize a gas.

The protons are inside the nucleus of atom , so we will need very high energy to break the nucleic force between the nuclides or adding a proton.

But we can apart electrons from atom by giving energy or can add electron .

When we add electrons in atom ,,,,,,,,/

the Number of electron> no. of proton.

so atom will negatively charged because negative atoms are greater in Number.

///////

When we apart electron,,,,

the Number of electron<no. of proton.
so atom is positively charged.

By this way a gas is Ionized.
