If you want a short ANSWER then- Yes, the first part of your question is correct but the second part of your question isn't exactly right.

EXPLANATION: Yes, in a desert food can be scarce to find.             When a camel is unable to access food for a long period of time, its body is able to metabolize the fat in the humps for nutrition.

However,Camels do not in fact ‘store’ water. They are just very good at conserving it. They take up about 150-250 litres of water when they find a source and distribute it to their body through the three stomachs, they urinate less, their excreta is dry and they sweat way too less , all of which are ways to survive in a desert.
