let the father's current age be x

sons current age will be x-3o

In 12 years time the father age will be x+12

In 12 years time the son will be x-30 +12=x-18

therefore x+ 12 =3(x-18)

x+12=3x-54

2x = 66

x=33

So the father is now 33 years and the son is 3 years now , in 12 years the father will be 33+12 = 45 years and the son will be 12+3= 15 years .
