Given -

  • Father is fout times the age of his son.

  • The age of father at his son's birth was 30 years.

To find -

  • Their present ages.

Solution -

In the question, we are stated that the age of father is 4 times the age of his son, and the age of father at the birth if his son was 30 yrs and we need to find the their present ages. For that first we will take son's age as x and father's age as 4x, and will put it equal to 30, then we will solve the further question. Let's do it!

According to question -

Let the age of son be x

So -

Age of father will be 4x

Now -

We will subract the age of father from the age of son, and will out it equal to 30, then we will divide the obtained number by 30.

On substituting the values -

\sf\longrightarrow\:4x\:-\:x\:=\:30

\sf\longrightarrow\: 3x\:=\:30

\sf\longrightarrow\:x\: = \sf\cancel\dfrac{30}{3}

\sf\longrightarrow\:x\:=\:10

At the end -

Son's age = 10 yrs

Father's age = 4x = 4 × 10 = 40 yrs

\therefore Their present ages are 10 yrs and 40 yrs.

Answer:

 \mathfrak{Given} \begin{cases} \sf father \: is \: 4 \: times \: of \: son \\  \sf \: the \: age \: of \: father \: was \: 30 \: when \: son \: was \: borned \end{cases}

To Find :-

Their present ages.

Solution :-

At first let's assume the present age of son as y. According to Question father is 4 times of son

Father's age = 4 × y = 4y

Now,

The difference between their age is 30

 \sf \mapsto \: 4y - y = 30

 \sf \mapsto \: 3y  = 30

 \sf \pink{y = 10}

Father's age = 4(10) = 40 years

Son age = 10 years

Verification :-

4y - y = 30

4(10) - 10 = 30

40 - 10 = 30

30 = 30

Hence, verified
