Answer:

let son's age be x.

father= 6x.

after five years.

son = x+5.

father= four times son's age.

4(x+5)

father's age can also be 6x+5 from above equation.

4(x+5)= 6x+5

4x+20= 6x+5

6x-4x= 20-5

2x = 15

x= 7.5 years.

there son's present age=x= 7.5 years.

father= 6x= 7.5×6= 45 years.

Solution

According to the given condition

✒ Let the son age be x year then his father age be 6x year

After 4 years

  • Son age = x + 4
  • Father age = 6x + 4

➨ 4(x + 4) = 6x + 4

➨ 4x + 16 = 6x + 4

➨ 16 - 4 = 6x - 4x

➨ 12 = 2x

➨ x = 12/2 = 6
