Let x be the present age of son.

Here its given that father'age is three time of his son age at present, so we have :-

Father's present age = 3x.

After 12 years, father's age=3x+12.

And Son's age=x+12.

In question it's given that ,in 12 years time father's age will be equal to double of his son's age so we have,

3x+12=2(x+12)

=> 3x+12=2x+24.

=> 3x-2x=24–12

> x=12.

So Son's present age=12.

Father's present age=36.
