EXPLANATION.

Father age is three times the sum of ages of

his two children.

Let the age of father be = x

Let the age of the sum of ages of his two

children = y

=> x = 3y .....(1)

After 5 years.

the age of father = ( x + 5 ) years.

the age of sum of two children = ( y + 2(5))

years. = ( y + 10 ) years.

His age will be twice the sum of age of

two children.

=> x + 5 = 2 ( y + 10 )

=> x + 5 = 2y + 20

=> x - 2y = 15 ....... (2)

From equation (1) and (2) we get,

=> put the value of equation (1) in (2)

=> 3y - 2y = 15

=> y = 15

put the value of y = 15 in equation (1)

we get,

=> x = 3(15)

=> x = 45

Therefore,

present age of father = x = 45 years.
