Let fathers age be x

let his son's age be y

x+y=40.

now x=3y

therefore

placing the value of x=3y in x+y=40

3y+y=40

4y=40

y=10

now placing value y=10 in x=3y

x=3(10)

x=30

therefore father's age is 30 and his son's age is 10

plzzz mark it
