Answer:

Soumya age = 10 years, Father's age = 40 years

Explanation:

Father age = x

Soumya's  age = y

x = 4y

After 5 years so we add five to both sides

x + 5 = 3(y + 5)

Open brackets

x + 5 = 3y + 15

Solve it

x - 3y = 15 - 5

x - 3y = 10

4y - 3y = 10

y = 10

Soumya's  age = y = 10 years

Father's age = 4y = 40 yrs

Answer:

let the present age of Soumya be x years.

therefore father's age be 4x.

after 5 years, father's age is 4x+5

so,

4x+5=3(x+5)

4x+5=3x+15

4x-3x=15-5

x=10

therefore Soumya age is 10

and father's age is 4x=4*10=40
