Question : Father said, "I want some cookies from the kitchen." (Change into Indirect speech)

Answer : Father said that he wanted some cookies from the kitchen.

Rules :

  1. This is an Assertive Sentence only whose Reporting Verb "said" is in Past Indefinite Tense and Reported Speech is in Present Indefinite Tense. In Indirect Speech, the Reported Speech will change into Past Indefinite Tense also according to Reporting Verb rules.

  2. To join the Reporting Verb and the Reported Speech, we use "that".

  3. "I" is changed into "he" as father is certainly a male.
