Correct Question :-

A father wants to divide Rs.7000 between his two sons in the ratio of their ages. If the younger son is 7 years old and the elder one is 3 years old than the younger one, find the share of each.

Answer :-

  • Elder son money = 10x = 10 × 411. 76 = Rs 4117. 6

  • Younger son money = 7x = 7 × 411. 76 = Rs 2882 .32

Given :-

  • Younger son age = 7 years old .
  • Father wants to divide Rs. 7000 between his two sons .

Find :-

  • Find the share of each son .

Solution :-

As from the Question we know the age of younger son = 7 years .

So , Now

We consider the elder son age be " m " years .

According to the Question :-

➤ 7 + 3 = m

➤ 10 = m = ( Age of elder son )

Now , simply we got the ratio of two sons age :- 10 : 7

Therefore ,

From this

We let their shares as 10x and 7x respectively .

Money of elder son + money of younger son = Total amount .

⇒ 10x + 7x = 7000

⇒ 17x = 7000

⇒ x = 7000/17

x = 411 .76

Putting up the value of x

Elder son money = 10x = 10 × 411. 76 = Rs 4117. 6

Younger son money = 7x = 7 × 411. 76 = Rs 2882 .32
