  • The reaction is-
  • Fe+CuSO_4\rightarrow FeSO_4+Cu
  • The oxidation state of Fe changes to +2 and Cu changes to 0 from +2.
  • So, here Fe undergoes oxidation.
  • Cu undergoes reduction.
  • " The species which itself get reduced and help to oxidise another species called oxidising agent".
  • Thus Copper sulphate is an oxidising agent.
  • "The species which itself get oxidised and helps another species to undergo reduction called reducing agent".
  • Fe is the reducing agent.
