When iron is added to steam , its form triferric tetraoxide ( Fe3O4 ) . This is a reversible reaction .

So , Fe + H2O⇒Fe3O4 + H2 ( skeletal eq. )

3Fe + 4H20 ⇒Fe3O4 + 4H2 ( balanced eq . )
