Fear of punishments enforces discipline. It's absolutely right but the so called 'discipline' only remains in front of teachers and parents. It does not improve the mindset of the child. The child does not understand the importance of discipline. He merely shows discipline because he is forced to. If the force is removed he will never try to be disciplined himself as he never came to know it's importance. The aim should be to develope the child's character so that he becomes a good citizen. Fear of punishments has only temporary benefits. Instead of forcing, the child should be explained the importance of discipline. Teachers and parents can't force good values in their child untill the child himself understands their importance.
