The President of India is the highest official in the country and is also called the first citizen of the country.

Before January 2016, the President of India used to get salary of 1.5 lakh rupees per month and all other basic facilities. Since January 2016, the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission have come into force, due to which the wages of all central and state employees have increased.

As a result of this increase, a decision has been taken by Parliament to increase the salary of the President of India.

The salaries and allowances currently available to the President are as follows:-

1. Salary as (Rs.5 lakh) per month (exempt from income tax)

2. Free medical facilities

3. Fully Furnished Free Accommodation

4. Free treatment (full life)

5. The President receives a fully bullet-proof Mercedes Benz S600 (W221) Pullman Guard Car from the Government.
