· Found commonly in the plains of north or floodplains and riverbeds

· Alluvial soil is very fertile and rich in minerals. Its main components are silt, clay, gravel and sand. It is rich in Potash, Phosphoric acid and lime. The colour, texture and components can vary from place to place.

· It is primarily of two types: Bhangar and Khadar. The former is old while the latter is new. Both of these contain kankars which are calcerous depositions .
