MGNREGA(Mahatma Gandhi National rural employment guarantee act,2005) is one of the largest programme scheme in the world.

Features of MGNREGA:

• It gives assurance of 100 days of work to every rural household in terms of employment.
• At least One-third of the jobs position are reseved for women.
• The share of SCs,OBs & women are 23%,53% &17 % respectively.
• The wages have increased from ₹65 in 2006-07 & to ₹132 in 2013-14.
• At the beginning this Scheme covers only 150 districts later it would be extended to 600 districts.

• A response will be given within 15 days of submission of applied form.
• Work should be provided to the applicant within 5 km of his /her residence.
• Minimum wages paid to be 60/day and wages paid is weekly.
