HEYY FRIEND!
Here are some reasons why the Parliament is considered powerful:
1. The Parliament makes Law: The Parliament can legislate (make laws) on all 97 subjects of the Union List, all 47 subjects of the Concurrent List and all 66 subjects of the State List (when specific conditions exist). According to the Residuary Powers of the Parliament, the Parliament can make laws on all subjects which are not mentioned in any of the three lists.
2. A Money Bill is a statement dealing with imposition, abolition or alteration of taxes. A Money Bill can be introduced only in the Lok Sabha of the Parliament, with the prior approval of the President of India.
3. The Parliament has the power of Impeachment: Impeachment is the process by which the President and the Judges of the Court is removed. For this, a resolution must be passed in either of the House, backed by the other House. A two-thirds majority for passing the resolution is essential.
4. The Parliament has the power to amend the Constitution: Amending the Constitution means changing the terms written down in it. There are three types of Amendment:
=> One in which only a simple majority is required.
=> One in which a two-thirds majority is required.
=> One in which two-thirds majority plus the ratification by half of the State Legislatures is required.
5. The Parliament is the maker of the Government; It can throw out the Government at any time: The Union Council of Ministers functions under the confidence of the Lok Sabha. If a No-Confidence Motion is passed in the Lok Sabha against the Government, then the whole ministry has to resign.
CHOOSE ANY THREE!
Thanks!
