Hey!!!

characteristics of XYLEM :-

>> it consists four parts - tracheids, vessels, xylem fibres and xylem parenchyma.

>> the cells in xylem have thick walls and almost all cells are dead.

>> tracheids and vessels are the tubular structures, they help to transport water and minerals vertically.

>> xylem parenchyma stores food and help in the conduction of water.

>> xylem fibres provide support.

characteristics of PHLOEM :-

>> it also consists four parts - sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem fibres and phloem parenchyma.

>> sieve tubes are tubular cells and have perforated walls.

>> materials can move in both directions here.

>> phloem transport food from leaves to other parts if the plant except phloem fibres.

>> cells in phloem are living cells.

Explanation:

Your answer:

Xylem is a mixed vascular tissue which conducts water and mineral salts taken in by roots throughout the plant, which it provides with mechanical support. In the mature woody plants, makes up bulk of vascular tissue itself and of entire structure of stems and roots.

Phloem is the principal food conducting tissue in vascular plants. It is a mixed tissue, containing parenchyma and occasionally fibers besides sieve elements, the main conducting cells and their companion cells. Phloem maybe primary or secondary in origin.

Hope it helps
