Peoples regular diet consist of grains like rice, wheat, corn etc and pulses etc. The crops that are producing the products for regular diet are called as STAPLE CROPS.

The function of these crops to provide the diet with hygienic and nutritional value to the entire population.These foods are relatively cheap and supply a good amount of energy and some protein. Staples include cereals (such as rice, maize, millet, sorghum, wheat and barley).
