in human body hormone act on target organ or tissue to induce their effects, the target tissues has specific binding sites which contain hormone receptors hormone receptor are either the present on cell membrane or maybe intracellular. the binding of hormone to its receptor leads to formation of a hormone receptor complex each receptor is specific to one hormone only and hence receptors are specific the formation of hormone receptor complex leads to to certain biochemical changes in the target tissue thus tissue metabolism and consequently physiological functions are regulated by hormones.
