it is the father who determines the sex of the baby. as we all know that the female have x and x chromosomes whereas the male have x and y chromosomes. Either of the chromosomes reach the female egg which ever sperm reaches the egg determines the sex of the baby. i.e if it is x and x then it is a female if it is x and y it is a male
