Her feet were bare and her clothes were dirty. She was a young girl, walked gracefully on the railway platform. She came up to me and looked at me with an unreadable expression in her eyes. I kept on looking at her taking in her beauty, she looked to me like a beautiful doll wrapped in old and used clothes.
She shook my hand to bring me out of my trance and then asked me where I was from. This question at first got me thinking why was she asking about this but this time I restrained myself from thinking as I didn't want to go in trance again. I smiled and told her my hometown.
A smile formed way on her lips and she started staring at my slippers and a scarf that was tied to my handbag, her eyes were glimmering with happiness. She pointed at my slippers and scarf and asked if these were from where I lived, I nodded my head affirmatively. To this, her smile widened showing her teeth and a giggling sound made way through her throat. I mildly smiled at her innocence.
She said just a simple thing and my smile vanished and made me think why can't everyone be born equal to enjoy equal status and enjoy small happiness in life. As I looked up to see her, she was already leaving giggling. I called her and asked her to come to me.
She returned to me and stood on the same spot again, I asked her if she really liked my slippers and scarf to which she nodded. This was enough for me to give my scarf to her, she refused at first but when I insisted she took it and wore it around her neck immediately with huge excitement. Her smile reaching her ears melted my heart and she made a small gesture of waving her hands, saying thanks to me she left running and jumping from there.
This incident brought a delighted feeling in me and I was feeling relaxed, no reason as such. Soon my train arrived and I went home thinking about the adorable girl.
