Internal fertilisation take place in hen also. But a hen does not give birth to chicks. 1)After fertilisation takes place inside the body of the hen, the fertilised egg or zygote divides repeatedly to form embryo which travel down the oviduct.

The type of fertilisation in hens is internal :-

⟶ Hens reproduce by laying eggs.

⟶ After the formation of the zygote, it keeps on dividing itself and then travels through the oviduct.

⟶ In this process, many protective layers are formed over the egg. The hard shell is one such protective layer.

⟶ When the hard shell is formed around the embryo, the hen lays the egg. It takes almost 3 weeks for the embryo to develop into a chick. In this time period the hen often sits over the egg to provide it with warmth.
