Over the past 6 months the Paris Opera has undergone a truly unprecedented situation: after the strike movement linked to the pension reform project, we were hit as hard as everyone by the health crisis. For the Opera, this represents a total of more than 230 performances cancelled this season, almost 500,000 seats to be refunded for a total of 80,000 spectators.
Despite the restrictions engendered by the health crisis, we have made every effort to respond as quickly as possible to the exceptional workload involved in processing refunds, in particular by setting up a dedicated team mobilized via telecommuting, implementing IT developments along the way and simplifying our processes. However, several thousand applications remain to be finalised and we are doing everything possible to ensure that reimbursements concerning the 19/20 season are all made in the coming weeks, before the summer break.
The persistent uncertainties weighing on the health situation, both with regard to organising rehearsals and performances and welcoming the public, have also led us, like other opera houses, to substantially modify our autumn 2020 programme and the calendar for ticket sales. We will therefore be contacting all spectators, in particular patrons, Arop members and 20/21 subscribers, to make specific propositions taking into consideration the productions already booked: exchanges, alternative programmes, or refunds.
