Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi (19 November 1828 – 17/18 June 1858) was an Indian queen and warrior. She was one of the greatest leaders of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and, became for Indian nationalists a symbol of resistance to British rule in India.

Rani Lakshmi Bai was the queen of jhansi and one of the heroes of the 1857 revolution.
She was born in Manikarnika Tambe aka Manu.
Tatia tope and Nana Saheb were her childhood friends.
She was educated at home and knew horse riding, sword fighting etc.
She was married to king Gangadhar Rao Newalkar of Jhansi.
British annexed her state after the death of king under the Doctrine of Lapse policy .
She refused to give her state and decide to fight with the British.
In March of 1958 British attacked the fort of Jhansi under the command of Huge Rose.
She died on 18 june 1958 and buried in Gwalior city.
