This affects not only the quality of water but also the self cleansing capacity of the river. For example -given the adequate, streamflow the Ganga water is able to dilute and assimilate pollution loads within 20 km of large cities. But the increasing urbanization and industrialization do not allow to happen and the pollution level of the many rivers has been rising. Concern over rising pollution in our rivers led to the launching of various action plans to clean the rivers.

River water is one of the main source of water for the City dwellers full leaf beside the river that searches in the city of Kolkata Chennai And other Metropolitan cities. It is also used as the main source of water for drinking purpose for irrigation purposes and various other purpose is in the village area. We should keep the river water absolutely clean because it's needed by us in various forms. The disposal of various Municipal waste and industrial waste into the river head lead to the pollution of the river water and make it unsuitable for use. This should be stopped because otherwise we cannot use the river water for our purpose.
