Few months after the imposed COVID-19 community quarantine, Chrislyn observed that her husband, Jeremy gets physically bigger and worry about the result that would come out from his mandatory medical check- up when he would be called to return to work abroad. The couple decided to buy a mountain bike and go cycling as their form of exercise. The couple took first the two-kilometer ride, when in the middle of the road trip Jeremy complained of pain on his right leg and requested his wife to spend few minutes to rest. Chrislyn did not experience any discomfort. Why did Jeremy felt soreness on her right leg and his wife does not? Does it have implication to aerobic and anaerobic respiration?

Due to staying in most of the time during the pandemic, Jeremy started growing physically. This is what happened in case of most of the people due to the decrease of physical activity during the quarantine.

This led to Jeremy's increased weight. Because of the increased mass in his body, Jeremy also indirectly started exerting more pressure to his bones .

When Jeremy and his wife decided to conquer the incrased weight by inculcating mountain biking, it exerted a lot of stress to his muscles and bones that were until now, not so active.

The pain that Jeremy complained of, could be due to various reasons :

1) His increased weight during the pandemic caused more exertion on his knees, muscles and bones.

2)Water retention, which is very common in bikers (especially physically big people)

3) Respiration is hardly related to this factor, but it can be considered if the cycling is done in a mountainous region, since oxygen levels are comparatively low there and cycling is a sport that causes a huge amount of oxygen intake.

4) Edema is also a case that should be considered, where swelling is caused due to the retention of fluid in various parts of the body. This is a case that needs immediate medical attention.
