The incorrect statement is (b) II and III.

Statement (II) states that Zn(OH), and Cu(OH), are bases also as alkalis. this is often incorrect.

  • Zn(OH), and Cu(OH), are bases but they're not alkalis as they are not soluble in water.
  • So, the alkalis are those bases which will be dissolved in water.
  • If the bottom is insoluble in water then it is not an alkali.

Statement (III) states that each one metallic oxides give salt and water with alkalis. This is often incorrect.

  • All metallic oxides are already basic in order that they do not react with alkalis.

Statement (I) states that NaOH and KOH are bases also as alkalis.

  • This is the correct statement.
  • NaOH may be a strong base, and when it's dissolved in water, it dissociates into sodium cation and hydroxyl anion. Being a robust base it dissociates completely. The reaction is given below:

       NaOH→Na++OH−NaOH→Na++OH−

  • So, it's an alkali.
  • KOHKOH is additionally a strong base. When it's dissolved in water, it dissociates into potassium cation and hydroxyl anion. Being a robust base it dissociates completely. The reaction is given below:

       KOH→K++OH−KOH→K++OH−

  • So, it's an alkali.

So , statement II and III are incorrect.
