Given : Fifteen students were examined for their  haemoglobin percent in blood (in mg per 100  ml) and the results were as below

13.2, 14.5, 12.9, 12.6, 14.5, 14.5, 11, 13.8, 14.5, 13,  14, 14.5, 12, 13, 14.5

To Find: the mean, mode and median of the data

Solution:

Number of Students = 15

13.2, 14.5, 12.9, 12.6, 14.5, 14.5, 11, 13.8, 14.5, 13,

14, 14.5, 12, 13, 14.5

Mean = Sum / number of data

Sum = 13.2 + 14.5 +  12.9 + 12.6 + 14.5 + 14.5 + 11 +13.8 + 14.5 + 13 + 14 + 14.5 + 12 + 13 + 14.5   =   202.5

Mean = 202.5/15 = 13.5

Arranging data in ascending order

11,  12,  12.6, 12.9, 13, 13 ,13.2, 13.8, 14,   14.5,  14.5, 14.5,  14.5,  14.5,   14.5

Median id 8th data  = 13.8

Mode = 14.5

Repeated maximum 6 times

Given:

Fifteen students were examined for their hemoglobin percent in the blood (in mg per 100 ml) and the results were as below

13.2, 14.5, 12.9, 12.6, 14.5, 14.5, 11, 13.8, 14.5, 13, 14, 14.5, 12, 13, 14.5

To find:

The mean, mode, and median of the data

Solution:

13.2, 14.5, 12.9, 12.6, 14.5, 14.5, 11, 13.8, 14.5, 13, 14, 14.5, 12, 13, 14.5

First, arrange the given data in ascending order(lowest to highest)

11, 12, 12.6, 12.9, 13, 13, 13.2, 13.8, 14, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5.

Distribution Table:

Refer Attachment for Distribution Table of given data.

Mean :

 =  >  \dfrac{sum \: of \: given \: data}{number \: of \: data \: }

 \dfrac{11 + 12 + 12.6 + 12.9 + 13 + 13 + 13.2 + 13.8 + 14 + 14.5 + 14.5 + 14.5 + 14.5 + 14.5 + 14.5}{15}

 =  >  \dfrac{202.5}{15}  = 13.5

Hence, Mean is 13.5

Median :

The middle term of the given data is median

11, 12, 12.6, 12.9, 13, 13, 13.2, 13.8, 14, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5, 14.5,

Median is 13.8.

Mode:

The number which repeated the most number of times in the given data is a mode.

14.5 is repeated 6 times.

So, Mode is 14.5
