Fifteen years from now Ravi’s age will be four times his present age. What is Ravi’s present age?
solution of this question
Solution:
Let the present age of Ravi be x years.
After 15 years, his age will be = (x + 15) years
As per the conditions, we get
⇒ x + 15 = 4x
⇒ 15 = 4x – x (transposing x to RHS)
⇒ 15 = 3x
⇒ 15 ÷ 3 = x (transposing 3 to LHS)
⇒ x = 5
Hence, the present age of Ravi = 5 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

General Methods of Preparation of Haloalkanes

1. From Alcohols

In Groove’s method, ZnC12 is used to weaken the C-OH bond. In case of 3° alcohols, ZnC12 is not required.

The reactivity order of halogen acids is HI > HBr > HCl.

Darzen procedure is the best method for preparing alkyl halides from alcohols since both the by products (SO2 and HCl) are gaseous and escape easily.

Answer:

5 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Ravi’s present age be x years.

After fifteen years, Ravi’s age = 4x years.

Fifteen years from now, Ravi’s age = (x+15) years.

According to question, 4x = x + 15

\Rightarrow\ 4x-x=15⇒ 4x−x=15

[Transposing x to L.H.S]

3x = 15

\Rightarrow\ \frac{3x}{3}=\frac{15}{3}⇒

3

3x

=

3

15

[Dividing both sides by 3]

x = 5 years.

Hence, Ravi’s present age be 5 years.
