2. Open Circuit- If a circuit comprises all the four parts,
of a circuit but the switch is in 'off' position or a
connecting wire is open from the switch or the load
then it is called an open circuit (See Fig. 2.6 (b)].
3. Short Circuit- If the load or consumer of a circuit is
short-circuited and the current is not passing through
the load then it is called a short circuit. In this circuit
a heavy current flows which burns the fuse or otherwise
which causes a fire due to over-heating of cables and
burning of their insulation (See Fig. 2.7).​
