Area of shaded region - Area of circle - Area of square

  • Area of square = side² = 7² cm² = 49cm²
  • The diagonal of the square forms the diameter of the circle
  • In ΔABC, AB²+BC² = AC²
  • 49 + 49 = AC²
  • AC = 7√2 cm
  • Hence, diameter of circumscribing circle = 7√2cm
  • Radius = 7√2/2 cm
  • Area of circle = πr² = 22/7 × 7√2/2 × 7√2/2 =77cm²
  • Hence, area of shaded region = 77cm² -44cm² = 33 cm²
