Kabuliwala is written by Rabindranath Tagore, it is based purely on love and friendship.

1. Firstly, we see the love between the narrator and Mini. 
    *The narrator is Mini's father. 
    *Mini is a chatty girl. After she has mastered speaking, there was not a     single moment when she was silent.
    *This nature of her's was loved by her father. He was used to listening to   his daughter patiently and would answer her appropriately.
    *Being in an aristocratic family, the narrator did not tell his daughter the   meaning of in-laws. He did not want to burden Mini's thoughts with 'in-laws' 
    *He loves his daughter so well that he does not refrain her from talking to     Rehmat, the Kabuliwala. Her happiness is his happiness

2. The second relationship that proves love and friendship is the relationship between Rehmat and Mini.
    *At first, Mini was afraid of Rehmat for she thought that he carried in his   customary sack two or three children like herself.
    *But Rehmat won over Mini's little heart by offering her nuts and dry grapes
    *Soon their friendship developed. Mini would ask Rehmat what was in his   bag...He would reply in his broken accent 'Hanti' (elephant). 
     *Rehmat would advise Mini not to go to her in-laws. Not knowing the   meaning of in-laws, she would ask Rehmat what would he do? Making a fist   and punching an imaginary in-law in air, he used to say "I'll wallop my in-law"
     *These small jokes would make Mini laugh whole-heartedly.
     *The two would talk for hours and hours. Rehmat would attentively listen     to Mini and reply her in broken Bengali.
     *He had a fatherly affection towards Mini.
     *He saw his own daughter in Mini and therefore connected with her so   deeply.

3. Now, we also get to see Mini's mother's love for Mini.
    *Even though she seems like a typical housewife, her concerns are not at   all improbable.
    *She is paranoid about Rehmat's and Mini's relationship. She thinks that maybe Rehmat would kidnap Mini one day and take her to Kabul. 
   *She also disapproves of Mini's chattiness because she wants her daughter to have good values and respect in the society.

4. Rehmat's relationship with his own daughter.
    *Even though we know a little about Rehmat's daughter, we can still conclude that their bond was really strong.
    *Rehmat would carry a small imprint on his daughter's hand with him because he wanted his daughter to always be in his heart.
    *The story touches our hearts when we are revealed about Rehmat and his daughter.

So, these relationships truly maintain the theme of LOVE and FRIENDSHIP throughout the story and Kabuliwala is an exemplary tribute to filial love!
