The substances that are decomposed by biological process are called biodegradable substances.

  • There are two types of substances according to the decomposition process. 1) Biodegradable substances and 2) Non Biodegradable substances.
  • The substances which can be easily decomposed by the organic decomposers of our environment, in a complete biological process, are popularly termed as the biodegradable substances.
  • Example of such biodegradable substances are - fruit or vegetable peels, paper, dead body of different organisms, different food materials etc.
