➤ Answer :-

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 4)}{5}  \: ; \:  \dfrac{5}{( - 7)}

Convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators i.e, 5 and (-7)

LCM of 5 and (-7) is 35.

 \tt \longrightarrow   \dfrac{( - 4) \times 7}{5 \times 7}  \: ; \:  \dfrac{5 \times ( - 5)}{( - 7) \times ( - 5)}

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 28)}{35}  \: ; \:  \dfrac{( - 25)}{35}

Now, we can compare them by looking to the numerators.

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 28)}{35}  \:  \boxed{ < } \:  \dfrac{( - 25)}{35}

 \tt \longrightarrow \dfrac{( - 4)}{5} \:  \boxed{ < } \:  \dfrac{5}{( - 7)}

\Huge\therefore\tt\dfrac{5}{(-7)} is the greater fraction.

Remember..........

  • While comparing the fractions, if the fractions are unlike fractions, convert them into like fractions by taking the LCM of the denominators.
  • If the fractions are like fractions, we can compare them easily by looking to the numerators.
