The bouncing back of light is known as reflection.

Reflection

Reflection is the phenomenon of bouncing back of light in the same medium on striking the surface of any object.

If the surface is smooth, lustrous and shiny like glass , then the light will be reflected in the same angle as it hit the surface of object. A plane mirror reflects almost all light which falls on it.

Two laws of reflection!

• The incident ray , the reflected ray and the normal ray , lies on the same plane.

• The angle of incidence equals to angle of reflection.

Types of reflection!

Regular reflection: The plane mirror which reflects all the light and image we see is very clear, then this reflection is called regular reflection.

Irregular reflection: The unlike mirrors, or uneven mirrors, mostly natural mirrors have many irregularities which don't allow light to reflect in same angles and this leads to irregular reflection.
