The female butterfly lays their eggs on the leaves of the plant.

When particular insects belonging to the group called Lepidoptera are at the stage of flying they are called butterflies. Butterflies are usually seen during the daytime. Butterflies have six legs and three main body parts called a head, thorax( chest) and abdomen (tail). Butterfly's wings are covered with tiny colourful scales that give beauty to them. They also have clubbed antennae.

After mating, female butterflies start searching for the plant where they can lay their eggs. They are very particular about choosing a plant because caterpillars hatching from the eggs are very certain about what they wanna eat. Female butterflies recognise the correct species of plant by scratching their feet on leaves and by the colour, shape and smell of the leaf. When they are satisfied with the leaf of the plant they begin their preparation for laying their eggs on them.
