Answer ⇒ Modern Period.

Explanation ⇒ Whenever we read Indian History, we divide it into three parts, namely Ancient, medieval and Modern.

Now, Modern history is called as the British rule of India.

Also, Britishers have just ruled in modern period only. Whatever the acts have been happened after 1700 or 1800 are just called as modern.

Many Peoples calls it as colonial but thats not true. India was not exactly the colony of British. But Yea, Australia, Canada, etc were the colonies. So for them you can call it as colonial. But that will not be true for India. Exact work in History is Modern only.

''Britishers ruled the India from somewhat around 1800 to 1947. ''

Hope it helps.
