Answers:

1) Breathing is also known as external respiration.

★ Breathing is an external process that includes inhalation and exhalation. Thus breathing is also called external respiration.

2) The process of breathing in oxygen - rich air is called aerobic respiration.

★ In aerobic respiration, a complete breakdown of glucose occurs in the presence of oxygen. The glucose is broken down into carbon dioxide and water and the energy is released which is used by the cells. The opposite of aerobic respiration is anaerobic respiration.

3) Blood gets its red colour due to the presence of hemoglobin.

★ Hemoglobin is the ironic pigment present in the RBCs of blood. They help in the transportation of oxygen from the lungs to all the internal parts of the body.

4) The process of removing the metabolic wastes from the body is called excretion.

★ Excretion is the process by which our body eliminates unwanted substances called wastes from the body. The lungs, the skin, the various ducks, our kidneys - all take part in the process.

5) Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels.

★ Capillaries help in transferring the oxygenated blood rom the arteries to each and every individual cell and deoxygenated blood from these cells to the veins. Hence they help to connect veins and arteries.
