The caste system Is a form of social stratification.

Explanation:

The caste system is a form of categorizing in a hierarchical form. It is a kin-based social organization found in South Asian countries. Caste was known as Varna in ancient India. Varnas classified the society into four different groups. According to Rig Veda, the stratification system puts the Brahman or priest at the top, followed by the Kshatriya or warrior, Vaisya or landowner and trader, and Shudra or artisan and servant, in that order. In later days, a fifth varna of untouchables was developed and called as Panchama. Panchama included the intercaste offsprings.
