To insert question tags, just identify the auxiliary verb used in the sentence, turn it into negative, insert the pronoun after it and insert the tag at the end of the sentence.
For example, in the question above, "It is a beautiful day", the auxiliary verb is 'is', which when turned to negative is isn't and the pronoun it is inserted at the end altogether with a question mark.
