The surface area of a cuboid formed by joining two cubes of side a face to face is 10a².

- Let the one side of a cube = a

Surface area of one side of the cube = a×a = a²

So,the total surface area of a cube = 6×a² = 6a²

- Total surface area of two cubes = (6a²×2) = 12 a²

- Now,when the cuboid is formed, the two sides of the two cubes are overlapped inside of the cuboid and these sides are not part of external surface area.

-So,the acutal surface area = (12a²-2a²) = 10a² (answer)
